Switzerland's most high-end hospitality experience for business offices thanks to web and mobile digital services

One vision: building the perfect working place

Our Client, a Swiss real-estate company, built the Millennium, an architectural state-of-the-art and innovative offices building. Their vision is to offer the best hospitality experience to their residents based on high-end services offering. They aim to become the most innovative and prestigious player on the market. They needed a partner to help them design a tailored digital solution to support the building's service offering, to create a joint internal agile development factory and to support them in the development.

Shaping expectations: transform the vision into a concrete selection of functionalities to implement

The first challenge was to shape personas and user-journeys corresponding to residents of the building. Except that the building was not here yet, nor the residents. Together with the Client, we defined several illustrative resident profiles. From the vision of our Client, we shaped user-journeys of typical days in the premises for our profiles. We identified critical steps in the journey where to provide a value-added solution. It led us to the definition of the Functionality Matrix of the future solution. Functionalities were prioritized by the value they would bring to the users, which defined what would be part of the first version of the upcoming solution and the roadmap for the future.

Planning for success: design the user experience and choose the right architecture to build the solution

Our team of consultants, designers and software architects worked hand in hand to materialize the product. We created prototypes to give the look and feel to our Client of what the end-solution would be. Using an agile approach, we made several iterations of the design based on the feedback of our Client's key stakeholders. In parallel, we engineered the technical aspect of the solution and designed a future-proof architecture based on micro-services. Our team created a clear roadmap from the design prototype and the architecture to develop the solution, including milestones and effort estimation.

The road to reality: set up an agile team and develop the solution

Based on OWT experience in digital project, we adopted an agile approach to engage the development. The team composed of OWT and Client's resources built a strong collaborative culture structured by the rules and processes of the Agile framework jointly defined. In parallel, we leveraged OWT's knowledge to set up a development factory to support the implementation of the app. The result is a flexible and efficient way of delivering iterations of the expected product and adjust it in regard to continuous feedback of the business team.

Welcoming the Millennium residents and collecting the first feedbacks

In the summer of 2021, the Millennium Building was officially opened and ready to welcome its first residents. At the same time, our solution was deployed in production and available for use by end users.

Residents quickly became accustomed to the new solution and saw the value it could bring to their daily office life. Their feedback was positive, and we attribute this success to our blueprint phase, which allowed us to properly capture their needs and expectations.
